Homebuyer Counseling and Courses:
Learn How to Repair Credit and Buy a Home

Individual Pre-purchase Counseling

HAPHousing can provide an in-depth analysis of your readiness to buy a home, including review of your credit history, credit repair, the use of alternative credit and how your credit score affects mortgage approval. If you know you face barriers such as a poor credit history, you may want to begin with our Homebuyer Club.

Homebuyer Education

The nine-hour first-time homebuyers' education course covers all the steps in finding, financing, purchasing and maintaining a home. Information is provided on the wide range of programs and financing resources available to first-time buyers. Courses are held regularly throughout the region and are also available in Spanish. Click here for current course schedule.

HAPHousing’s first-time homebuyers' education course has received a Seal of Approval from the Massachusetts Homeownership Collaborative. Participants receive a certificate of completion that is necessary to access several special mortgage products, such as the Massachusetts Soft Second Program.

If you are thinking about buying a two-, three- or four-family home, we encourage you to attend HAPHousing’s rental property management workshops for the information you will need to successfully own rental property. For more basic help with money management, household budgeting and credit repair, HAPHousing offers financial fitness workshops.

Once you complete our first-time homebuyers' education course, you may be eligible for individual counseling to help with special budgeting, credit-worthiness, mortgage application and other tasks involved in a home purchase.
